Today, my youngest bundle of joy turns one year old!
I absolutely cannot believe it’s been a year since we welcomed you into the world. Time started flying when your brother was born, but is has doubled in speed since you come into our family. Daddy and I are doing our best to enjoy every day, but it’d be great if you’d stop growing so fast! 🙂
You are your Daddy’s mini-me, in looks and in personality. 90% of the time, you are a laid-back, go with the flow baby. When you want to be heard, however, you can certainly vocalize that! You are also a Daddy’s boy, and if he catches your eye, you want him to hold you.
Walking isn’t quite your thing yet, you are still content with crawling. You can stand with support and love pushing your “Yoshi” ride-on around the house. It shouldn’t be long before you’re mobile on two legs. When standing, you LOVE to bounce up and down and giggle while doing it.
Eight teeth have come through in your little mouth, but you still haven’t gotten the hang of chewing. Sometimes, you try to swallow whole bites of food we give you. I think it’s the Hambrick way of freaking your mommy out! All of you boys seem to have their own way of doing that!!
Speaking of food, you aren’t a picky eater at all. You like all fruits and veggies. I think your favorite is bananas and oranges. When we sit you in your highchair, we have to have the food ready or you get mad fast!
You love your big brother, and he loves you too. He likes to look at books with you, play in your bedroom, and take you outside. Most of the time, he isn’t jealous, but he has his moments. He tells us all the time about what all he is going to teach you as you grow up. I can’t wait for those wonderful moments!
Though you like being vocal from time to time, you don’t say the words you know unless you want to. No matter how much coaxing we do, you are a little stubborn sometimes. You can say bye, mama, dada, uh oh, and dog. I think your favorite is uh oh, no matter if there’s a problem or not. You also make a clicking sound with your tongue to call the puppy.
You love to play pat-a-cake, and with anything that makes noise. Your toy drum is a favorite. Sometimes, you’ll pick up two cups or cars and bang them together to hear their sound. It’s so cute watching you play! Everything goes into your mouth, of course, so we have to be careful when you want to play with Sawyer’s toys.
I can’t wait to see how you grow in the next year, I know it will be just as big as your first.
