Here we are, the middle of March, and I have yet to really focus on my 2014 goals of getting healthier. I keep trying to begin, but life gets in the way and I easily allow it to knock me off track.

I eat a healthy breakfast, but then I’m invited out to [an unhealthy] dinner – and tell myself it’s okay.
I feel tired after a long day with the kids, errands, and blogging, so then I don’t work out – and tell myself it’s okay.
I rid the house of everything sweet and sugary, then I want to make cupcakes – and tell myself it’s okay.
I’m sabotaging myself, and I have to stop!
Getting healthier is not an easy feat, but it’s never going to happen on the route I’m currently traveling. So, I’m assessing where I am, where I want to be, and how I plan to get there. I have to make new goals – short term goals so I can see results quicker and feel motivated to continue my progress.
Speaking of results, I’m using my new Jawbone UP to track my steps each day. Wearing the band has been a very eye opening experience. It easily syncs with the mobile app by connecting it directly to my iPhone, where I can see my day’s activity within seconds.
Along with exercising, I have to get a better meal plan going. We fell off the bandwagon with planning ahead last month, but now it’s time to jump back on. Sweets and my favorite comfort foods will be included, but for me, it’s all about moderation. I cannot keep making excuses and sabotaging my efforts – but I know completely eliminating all my loves is not a good idea either.
Sleep is another area of my health that I’ve been severely neglecting. The Jawbone UP tracks my sleep each night, and some nights it’s really sad how little I rest. My deep sleep is sometimes way less than half of my total sleep. I know late night blogging contributes to my mind not shutting off and allowing me to rest, so I’m going to try getting off of the computer, iPhone, all electronics one hour before bed.
This new plan of getting healthier is exciting for me, and I’m happy to have a device that will track my progress and immediately show me how I am doing. I feel this will keep my accountable as well as motivate me not to get off track again!
